Carla and Don couldn’t have made their wedding anniversary more special and easier to remember if they tried. Their wedding date and time was 12/12/12 at 12:12 noon and the ceremony took place at Mount Ephraim Gardens in Faversham. Here Carla tells us their wedding story.

“Mount Ephraim Gardens was the first venue that we looked at in January 2012 and I fell in love with it straight away. It felt very romantic. We wanted our wedding to be a relaxed day that we could enjoy with our friends and family but I also wanted it to have a traditional and classic feel. During the ceremony our daughter Olivia read a piece she had written about us and how much we meant to her – it was very emotional.

“As the wedding was just before Christmas our colours were Olive green, gold and ivory. There was such a warm glow from twinkling lights, with lots of candles and pearls to really complete the look. The theme continued with my wedding outfit as I wore a friends pearl necklace and earrings and my veil and hair slide were ivory with very subtle sparkles. The overall look of our wedding was better than I could have hoped for. On all of our stationery we had two little characters of myself and Don to make it feel a little more personalised – we run a family printers, Jenwood Printers, in Sheerness so that definitely helped!

“We had a traditional menu by caterers, Scott Anderson, of Winter vegetable soup, Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and Crème Brulee. Our reception drink was hot mulled wine. Our wedding cake was cupcakes made by a friend Lisa Burke. The Flower Company in Sheerness supplied by flowers. I love the smell of freesias and I wanted the flowers to look very simple but pretty. I had ivory freesias with pearls and sparkles in the bouquet, tied with an ivory ribbon and the bridesmaids and flower girls had bouquets of gyp, tied with ivory ribbon.

Kerry Ann Duffy was our photographer and she was fantastic. During the day we were also filming a Marryoke, with TDH Media which everyone really enjoyed. We also had up-close magician, Spencer Wood, who did fantastic tricks throughout our pre-dinner drinks and the wedding breakfast. In the evening we had a photo booth by Julian Austin Photography with Apollo Funk DJing. Our first dance was a little different as we did a mix up – we’re not great dancers but we gave it our best shot with tunes including Utah Saints, Big Fish, Tom Jones, Gangnam Style and the Black Eyed Peas “The Time (Dirty Bit)”

Because we had started so early the DJ finished up at 10.30pm with us doing a last dance to Take That’s “Greatest Day” which I cried throughout as I was so happy and didn’t want the day to end!

Back last month we had a fantastic time at the Vintage Wedding Fair run by Alice and Rose Presents. The show was a really relaxed affair and if you’re planning a vintage wedding in Kent make sure you don’t miss the next one!

We were entertained at the fair by the fantastic Violet Rae and just loved her style and brilliant range of classic 1940’s music. If you’re looking for a wartime vintage feel then you won’t go far wrong in booking Violet Rae to really set the scene and get your guests, to coin a vintage phrase, in the mood!

Can’t think of something exciting to serve your guests later in the evening? Don’t worry. A little imagination and your boring buffet could be transformed. Try these for tempting the tastebuds!

1. Mobile fish and chips from the Village Chippy is a great way to feed hungry guests without the hassle. The van rocks up ready to fry and the team headed up by Sue couldn’t be friendlier. The great thing about fish and chips is that it’s a pretty safe bet most guests will love it. The Village Chippy has a variety of menu options so you can’t go far wrong.

2. Hog roast has now become a really popular option. The bonus is it’s great for mass catering and it hits the spot for a traditional Kent themed wedding. Add some homemade apple sauce and a bun and you’ve got the perfect evening snack to soak up that cider! Flaming Porkys are based in Kent and have a variety of menu’s for your roast. They also do dessert options so save some room for the chocolate fountain!

3. If you don’t want hot food then how about a huge cheese board. With cheese cakes for weddings available throughout Kent you can add make the cheesecake into a fantastic centre piece and then add fruit, crackers, pates, cold meats and rustic bread. Great served with Kent wine and followed by mini apple tarts and rocky roads. We love The Cheesebox in Whitstable.

Happy Eating!

This weekend we’re looking forward to the Vintage Wedding Fair at Hollamby’s Sunset Barn in Groombridge.

We’re joining suppliers such as Rebecca Douglas Photography, Frou Frou Bridal, Florist in the Forest, Vintage Rose Cupcakes, Alice and the Teacup, Painted with Love, Powder and Glow and many many more.

It’s a really different kind of wedding fair with a relaxed atmosphere and lots of fun along the way. On the day you can expect to be entertained with live music, a bridal pack with wedding magazines and discounts, a glass of bubbly on arrival, competitions and the chance to meet lots of lovely suppliers who can help you pack a punch when planning your vintage wedding. And of course you can meet us to chat through any wedding worries you might have.

We suggest you bring a picnic on the day and enjoy some breathtaking views across the Kent and Sussex countryside. Plus there’ll be a bar open serving beer, wine and soft drinks and you can even meet the local animals that call Hollambys Farm their home.

We look forward to seeing you there x

Nothing is more quintessentially English than a cup of tea partnered with a biscuit (or four in my case!). These gorgeous biscuits from Little Boutique Bakery are fabulous as a wedding favour which your guests can gobble up there and then or take home to enjoy after a long day partying!

There are so many designs and colours to choose from to suit your theme perfectly. Why not give them out with teabags adorned with your own  homemade tea tags for that extra special touch?
