A big hello from us and Part 2 of our wedding worries countdown! At the beginning of the week we kicked off our countdown to the Wedding Fair at Bluewater with a series of special posts tackling the most common wedding worries. Today we’re concentrating on choosing your venue. Your venue choice is probably the biggest decision you’re going to make and it’s also where most of your budget will go. You’ve probably already got a good idea of the type of venue you want but the worry about whether you’ve chosen the right option can cause sleepless nights.

St Clere, Sevenoaks

The venue and guest numbers is a bit chicken and egg. You can’t really do one without the other so make sure you have a rough idea of how many people you want to attend. You’ll need to consider your budget (yes sorry boring voice of reason I know….) and that’s where the juggling begins.

If you’re not sure where to start take a look at these real weddings we’ve featured on the blog which give you an idea of just how different weddings can be depending on your venue. From little to large, intimate to loud and lively, green to grand you won’t find more (or better… but we’re biased…) options than in glorious Kent so take your time and do your wedding research carefully. All of these venues are completely different and all have varying elements that suited the couples and their guest numbers perfectly.

If you’re looking for an intimate celebration then you’re in luck because Kent has an absolute abundance of unique places to hold your wedding with hidden gems such as The George in Rye who featured a gorgeous vintage wedding shoot on the blog, The Bell at Ticehurst where quirky and fun is the order of the day and finally The Marquis of Alkham where James and Marika shared their big day with us. And to show how you can adapt a small venue to suit any wedding style we co-ordinated and styled a shoot at The Swan, West Malling – you can find it on our portfolio page but it was featured on super blog Bloved so go take a look for very glamourous inspiration.

Keep an eye out for hot of the press venues where you can guarantee your friends won’t have got married such as St Clere, a stunning estate in Sevenoaks that have just started offering weddings. Take a look at A Kentish Ceremony for one of the best round up of new and well established venues in Kent.

Happy Planning!

Venues, Wedding Planning

Incase you’ve missed our million and one plugs for the last month we’ll be at the Wedding Fair, Bluewater this coming weekend. At our stand (U16 incase you’re interested….) we’ll be running free sessions to help banish some of those wedding worries. So if you have something that’s bugging you or just can’t find the answer you need, come along and let us help.

Here on the blog we’ll be counting down to the fair with a special roundup of some of the most common worries we’ve covered in our posts. We’ll also be linking to other blogs and wedding websites as well to give you further help and advice. Researching online is an obvious and easy way to find suppliers but nothing beats a Wedding Fair to get tailor-made answers to any questions or queries you have. The chance to really get a “feel” for your suppliers is so important too and you simply don’t get that online. So take the time out and visit a few fairs during your wedding planning (pssst start with the Wedding Fair at Bluewater this weekend).

So watch out this week on the blog for some of the big stuff like choosing your wedding photographer, how to pick your venue, styling your wedding and avoiding a carbon copy day. Hopefully we’ll help you banish those wedding worries!

PS Ooh did I mention you can save on the ticket price for the Wedding Fair at Bluewater tickets with our special code?

Ooh you lucky lot as on Sunday 8th September there are not one, but TWO, fabulous wedding fairs happening a stones throw away in Brighton and Hove.

Marvellous, Mysterious, Nutty, Odd, Outlandish, Peculiar and Quirky are just some of the words used to describe the Quaint Queer Weird wedding show at Brighton’s Proud Cabaret. From 10.30am there will be burlesque dancing and entertainment including body painting with the ’Ring mistress of Ceremonies’, Dawn Gracie, who will be transporting you to the Spectacular through a Narnia inspired entrance!

Along the coast you’ll then find Belle’s Vintage Wedding Fair taking place at Hove Town Hall between 11am-3pm.

Belle’s Vintage Wedding Fair has original and vintage inspired bridal gowns, specialist vintage photographers and masses of quirky vintage suppliers. You can also be entertained by some the best vintage inspired acts around whilst you indulge in a very vintage afternoon tea.

There’s a whole host of wonderfully diverse suppliers at both fairs so make a day of it and head to the seaside for a wedding planning day and then some!

We’re really excited as we’ll be doing our Wedding Worries Workshops for as many couples as we possibly can at the Wedding Fair, Bluewater this September (20th to 22nd September 2013).

If you’re planning a wedding chances are you’re feeling the pressure to make your day stand out from the crowd and bring all your plans together within budget. Not an easy task, so at the fair you’ll get the chance to chat with us about how to make planning your big day that little bit easier. From queries about choosing suppliers, making the most of your budget, finding your wedding style to bringing an individual personality to your day, we’ll do all we can to find an answer that works for you.

If you’re stressing about something, however big or small, you can have a free one-to-one session with us at our stand where we’ll chat through your plans with you and try to banish those wedding worries!

We love the Wedding Fair at Bluewater as it brings together so many suppliers in one place giving you the chance to find inspiration and ideas for everything wedding related. It’s all there from cars to cakes, dresses to drapery, favours to photographers, bridal accessories to bands, styling, catering, venues and much more.

The catwalk show which runs at different times during the day is fantastic for seeing different styles close up, as dresses never seem to look the same in the flesh as they do in the magazines. You can also try on most of the catwalk dresses plus Bridesmaids and Grooms can also get in on “wedding dress up” fun as there’s a whole range of wedding wear available.

We’ll also be running a special wedding competition and have discounts available for our full planning workshops so make sure you come over and say hello!

Happy Planning
