Today we’re sharing with you our three favourite gowns from the 2013 collection of Monique Lhuillier. All the gowns in this collection have a really soft, elegant feel with lots of lace and gorgeous details, but they still manage to pack a punch in the wow factor stakes.
The collection isn’t available in Kent though ladies so it’s a trip into the big smoke to stockist Browns Bride, London.

At the Wedding Dolls we have really different styles. Whilst Joanne loves a strapless dress I can’t stand them, but only on me that it. They can look absolutely fantastic on the right frame but for me they just don’t seem to stay where they’re supposed to and I’m forever pulling them up. So I’m quite pleased to see more bridal gowns with higher necks and straps coming through.
Not everyone wants a strapless number and over the last few years this style has dominated the bridal boutiques. But the Royal Wedding has had a huge influence and now more brides want to cover up with softer feminine looks. So if you’re looking a designer that encompasses all different styles then head over to Elizabeth Stuart. Here’s just a small selection of her bridal gowns now available.

We already love the gowns by Alan Hannah (see our previous blog post) so news of their new prêt a porter label, MiaMia was the source of much excitement.
Marguerite Hannah is the award winning designer behind both the Alan Hannah label and MiaMia and says “the range aims to offer a slice of couture in an accessible, ready to wear option. We are using silk duchesse, silk slipper satin and silk organza, but we also offer other fabrics as alternatives to those used on the sample gowns. Your local stockist can advise you on choice of fabrics as well as offering a professional service for your fittings and alterations.”
The gowns under this label are light and pretty and we really like the fresh quirky feel of them. Whizz over to Abigails in Headcorn for your fitting in Kent.
Today we have a little look into the wedding design world of Maggie Sottero and her Spring 2013 collection. We just love the soft pink colour of this first fishtail dress launched at New York International Bridal Fashion Week. The collection is not yet available in stores but what’s to stop you taking a look at all her other gorgeous gowns whilst you wait!
Maggie Sottero is available in Kent at Bridal Gowns at Jodi in their Maidstone and Canterbury stores, as well as Go Bridal in Tunbridge Wells.

Claire Mischevani is an award-winning designer whose bespoke bridal service has featured in Vogue, Elle, Grazia, Brides and You & Your Wedding amongst others.
Claire says “At your first consultation we will talk to you about the type of dress you would like and we recommend you bring along cuttings from magazines that you find inspirational. Your measurements are taken and we can then mock up your design in a toile (cotton sample of the design). The toile will be fitted and any alterations will be made so you get the absolute picture of what your gown will look like when it is completed.
When you are completely happy with the design and fit of the gown, the pattern will then be adjusted and the gown cut in the fabric of your choice. Fittings will be done and any further alterations made. When the dress is completed, any design detailing will be added and a final fitting will be completed.”
Prices start from £1295. Contact Claire for details of how to book your appointment!
Fishtale wedding dresses are making a serious comeback and we just love this gorgeously detailed dress from Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner. Designing for Mori Lee for over 20 years, Madeline comes from New York and is well known internationally for her timeless and elegant designs.
In Kent the range is available at various Bridal Rooms including Jacqueline’s House of Brides in Dartford and Teokath in Canterbury.
Johanna Hehir has launched her new diffusion collection, Mae by Johanna Hehir. This gorgeous new range features soft georgette, silk crepe and vintage style lace in the dress designs. Dresses range in price from £1000 to £1500.
Johanna says “Naming the collection was far simpler than I thought it would be. When my daughter suggested we use Mae (my second name), I knew it was a name that perfectly suited the type of girl who we envision wearing any one of the dresses from this collection”.
Johanna has established herself over the past ten years as one of London’s leading bridal designers. Her signature style has clean, unfussy, classic cuts with romantic detailing – we just love!
We’ll let you know as soon as the range is available – in the meantime check out this gorgeous video from the collection shoot day or for more about her other gowns take a look at our previous blog post.
