Ooh you lucky lot as on Sunday 8th September there are not one, but TWO, fabulous wedding fairs happening a stones throw away in Brighton and Hove.

Marvellous, Mysterious, Nutty, Odd, Outlandish, Peculiar and Quirky are just some of the words used to describe the Quaint Queer Weird wedding show at Brighton’s Proud Cabaret. From 10.30am there will be burlesque dancing and entertainment including body painting with the ’Ring mistress of Ceremonies’, Dawn Gracie, who will be transporting you to the Spectacular through a Narnia inspired entrance!

Along the coast you’ll then find Belle’s Vintage Wedding Fair taking place at Hove Town Hall between 11am-3pm.

Belle’s Vintage Wedding Fair has original and vintage inspired bridal gowns, specialist vintage photographers and masses of quirky vintage suppliers. You can also be entertained by some the best vintage inspired acts around whilst you indulge in a very vintage afternoon tea.

There’s a whole host of wonderfully diverse suppliers at both fairs so make a day of it and head to the seaside for a wedding planning day and then some!

We’re really excited as we’ll be doing our Wedding Worries Workshops for as many couples as we possibly can at the Wedding Fair, Bluewater this September (20th to 22nd September 2013).

If you’re planning a wedding chances are you’re feeling the pressure to make your day stand out from the crowd and bring all your plans together within budget. Not an easy task, so at the fair you’ll get the chance to chat with us about how to make planning your big day that little bit easier. From queries about choosing suppliers, making the most of your budget, finding your wedding style to bringing an individual personality to your day, we’ll do all we can to find an answer that works for you.

If you’re stressing about something, however big or small, you can have a free one-to-one session with us at our stand where we’ll chat through your plans with you and try to banish those wedding worries!

We love the Wedding Fair at Bluewater as it brings together so many suppliers in one place giving you the chance to find inspiration and ideas for everything wedding related. It’s all there from cars to cakes, dresses to drapery, favours to photographers, bridal accessories to bands, styling, catering, venues and much more.

The catwalk show which runs at different times during the day is fantastic for seeing different styles close up, as dresses never seem to look the same in the flesh as they do in the magazines. You can also try on most of the catwalk dresses plus Bridesmaids and Grooms can also get in on “wedding dress up” fun as there’s a whole range of wedding wear available.

We’ll also be running a special wedding competition and have discounts available for our full planning workshops so make sure you come over and say hello!

Happy Planning

We’re big fans of the Ferry House Inn, it’s a beautiful 16th Century Country Pub in the little hamlet of Harty on the Isle of Sheppey. A perfect little venue tucked away on the edge of the Estuary with views over the water and surrounding countryside, it has a really unique and special feel and the team there are just fantastic. The open day is a superb way to check out the venue and you can always book a table to enjoy a spot of lunch after all that hard wedding work. So why not make a day of it and go take a look at this hidden gem!

So with a stiff upper lip, get collecting your tin cans and set about making your wedding the brightest one ever.

Venues, Wedding Shows

To say planning a wedding is a bit stressful is a complete understatement and we guarantee there’ll be a few moments in the process when you start to panic. So kick back, relax and watch other people muddle through their wedding plans. It’ll make you feel a whole lot better and you might just learn something into the bargain….

1. Bridesmaids

Get the girls round, crack open a bottle of vino and watch women behaving badly with tears, tantrums, romance and a cracking tune by Wilson Phillips. With a major competition raging between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid over who is the bride’s best friend and some hilarious toe curling scenes, each and every one of you will recognise a little bit of yourself in one of these ladies – but is that a good or a bad thing…..

2. Sex and the City

This film is perfect for reminding you that although a fabulous designer dress and high society guest list might be every girls dream, making sure you and your Groom are on the same wedding page is paramount. Although Carrie never married Mr Big in that Vivienne Westwood gown, we got to revel in the gorgeousness of it all and knew there’d be a happy ending before long.

3. Muriel’s Wedding

A personal all time favourite. Toni Collette stars as the quirky Muriel who’s on the look out for love and to give her life a bit of excitement along the way. The mostly ABBA soundtrack means you can sing along as Muriel plans her big day Aussie style. It’s a good reminder that being true to yourself and your style on your wedding day means you’ll have everyone hailing you as the “Dancing Queen” as well as giving them a wedding to remember.

4. Father of the Bride

A true wedding movie classic, the star of this film is definitely Franck, the wedding planner and then some, played brilliantly by Martin Short. Although the film doesn’t do much to dispel the wedding planner stereotype we can’t help but love Franck and the sweet storyline between the Father of the Bride and his family. Perfect in the run up to Father’s Day when it’s great to remember that those who love you the most should play an important part in your big day.

5. Bride Wars

Starring Ann Hathaway and Kate Hudson, the real stars of the show are the fabulous outfits, the over the top wedding style and the Bridezilla proportion outbursts. This film concentrates on two friends who end up planning their weddings for the same date. Cue cat fighting like you’ve never seen before. The lesson here is that measuring your wedding up against someone else’s is never a clever idea. No two weddings are the same and that’s a good thing. Find your own way and don’t be tempted to steal your best friends wedding contact book – you’ll do much better on your own. We promise.
